Lunch and Learn: From Despair to Regeneration: Honouring our Pain to Heal our World

Register Here!

With record heat levels, wildfire smoke, and wars breaking out all over the world, it’s no surprise that many people are struggling emotionally. How can we harness these difficult emotions to guide us to action? How can we transform our society from one that values economic growth to one that prioritizes life? How do we prevent burnout in this work? CSI Member Nate Charach of psychiatree will explore these questions and more in our next Lunch and Learn.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of honouring our emotions
  • Distinguish between passive and active hope
  • Be empowered to take action to heal our planet without burning out

This event will take place on Monday, March 11, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM EST. CSI Members get in for free! Non-members can purchase tickets for $10. No one will be turned away due to costs. If this is a barrier, please send us a message at info[at]socialinnovation[dot]ca and we will follow up with a ticket discount code.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Nate Charach is a psychiatrist working in Toronto. Over the last year he has started psychiatree groups — a branch of mental healthcare to foster empowerment to address our climate challenges. These groups integrate concepts from Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects with his group psychotherapeutic skills. He also studied at the Earthship Academy, completed a Permaculture Design Certificate at The Living Centre, has trained as a Work That Reconnects Facilitator and grows an edible forest garden in his backyard. He is also undertaking a home decarbonization project and has organized a Green Community in his neighbourhood.
