Business owners, startups and nonprofits will learn how to attract media attention and get press coverage through compelling press releases engaging with media personnel to convey their business’ value, and other strategies.
By the end of this event, entrepreneurs will learn:
- How to engage with journalists;
- What makes an attractive news story to journalists; and,
- Strategies for organizing a database of pitches and follow-ups.
This event will run from 12:30pm-1:30pm EDT. The last 15 mins will be reserved for Q&A.

About the Speaker
David Silverberg is a seasoned freelance journalist, editor, event producer and former editor-in-chief of Digital Journal. For more than 15 years, he helped lead Digital Journal to become a leading online news network, earning press coverage in outlets such as CBC, CP24, Global News, BNN and many more. He writes for publications such as BBC News, The Washington Post, The Toronto Star, New Scientist, NOW Magazine and brands such as 23andme and Shopify. For more than a decade, he was the artistic director of Toronto Poetry Slam, a biweekly poetry performance held at the Drake Hotel in Toronto.
