The COVID-19 era and the emerging recession bring stark challenges to environmental NGOs. Merger is a strategy that organizations can consider to survive this storm and thrive in the years ahead. This webinar presents an overview of nonprofit mergers, including:

• Benefits and risks of merger
• Established success factors
• Alternate structures available to organizations considering consolidation
• Legal and financial considerations
• Overview of the merger process.

Participants will leave this session with a better understanding of the options available to address organizational challenges and a framework for considering these options within their organizations.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER Scott Schaffer is principal of PIM Consulting, a nonprofit management consulting firm serving organizations in Canada and the U.S. He is a past executive director of NGOs in the housing, food security and environmental sectors and has led or facilitated over 25 mergers and strategic organizational partnerships. He has led numerous trainings for nonprofit leaders on financial sustainability and merger over the past decade. Recent consulting clients include Ecojustice, CPAWS-BC, Wildsight, the League of Conservation Voters and the Land Trust Alliance.
