Capacity Canada and Innoweave are cohosting a webinar to help leaders—particularly members of boards—build knowledge, confidence and understanding to engage more fully in social finance thinking. Diving into social finance models and opportunities requires oversight and clear direction from boards — understanding and learning how to govern through these opportunities and challenges is key to the long-term success of any social finance opportunity. The two keynote speakers for this webinar are: Tim Jackson and Hugh Munro.

Tim Jackson is one of Canada’s leading thinkers on social finance. Having served on the Canadian Task Force on Social Finance and representing Canada on the G7 Social Impact Investment Task Force, Tim will bring perspective on the opportunities that may exist for organizations looking to access the social finance space.

Hugh Munro is the former MBA Director at Wilfrid Laurier’s School of Business and Economics as well as a Professor of Marketing and International Business. Serving at Laurier for over 35 years, Hugh teaches and lectures internationally on new business ideas and new markets. He serves on a number of non-profit boards and brings key expertise on design thinking and business development to the conversation.

To maximize your participation, consider having at least two members from your organization participate — preferably a board member and a CEO, or two board members, as the content will be relevant for ongoing discussion and consideration at the board level.

Key learnings from the webinar to include:

• What do I need to help pay attention to as a board member?

• What lessons can be learned from the experiences of other organizations?

• Where might I find resources for our organization?
