Raising The Village is a fast-growing organization on an accelerated growth path. We have 120+ national staff in Uganda and a team of 8 people in North America working together to lift communities out of ultra-poverty in last-mile villages. We operate at the intersection of direct implementation and advanced data analytics to inform progress, decision-making, and impact.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Business Manager supports the office of the CEO by covering a wide spectrum of responsibilities to ensure that the CEO can focus on strategic priorities and organizational needs. 

The incumbent in this role will provide executive support in a one-on-one working relationship with the CEO, organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations efforts, oversee special projects and interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including departmental coordination, board members, and key funding partners.

In addition to being highly skilled, the role requires a high level of self-discipline, adaptability and maturity as well as a keen eye for attention to detail. You are someone the CEO can trust to get the job done!

You have strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to balance and manage multiple priorities. 

Key Responsibilities


Provide a high-quality of strategic and tactical support to the CEO. 

Oversee coordination of all reporting to the CEO from programs, projects and other departments.

Ensure coordination across the organization and manage the CEO’s meeting schedules, communications and preparations for key meetings.

Manage the CEO’s portfolio of deliverables and schedule follow-up or planning meetings as required.

Support the CEO to manage confidential matters effectively and ensure all communications are handled sensitively.

Support the strategic planning process with the Leadership Team to put in place the internal systems to undertake the process effectively and ensure staff engagement. 

Support in communication and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders (including emails and scheduling).

Coordination for travel, conference bookings and itineraries, and submitting expenses as required. 

Organize complex calendars and schedules. 

Support the CEO with the management of the Board. This includes preparing and delivering reporting for the Board, and support in any necessary follow-up requests.

Draft and prepare correspondence for internal announcements, board meetings, and organizations that the executive is involved with.


Coordination & Project Management 

Attend key meetings with the CEO with the purpose of note-taking and coordination on action items

Prepare Word, Excel, PowerPoint presentations, agendas, reports, and other documents in support of objectives for the organization.

Be involved in researching, collecting and analyzing information for various projects as needed. 

Lead special projects as assigned in a multi-stakeholder environment.


Stakeholder Management 

Liaise with key stakeholders as advised to advance CEO’s priorities 

Prepare briefings for calls, pulling together material from across the organization.

Work with the Partnerships team to update the CRM on behalf of the CEO to maintain stakeholder records and information.

Organize media appearances and events, panels etc, working with the communications team and ensure briefings, notes, and key messages are prepared in advance

Work closely with the Operations, Planning, Evaluation & Learning (PEAL), Finance, and Implementation teams to coordinate multi-departmental deliverables. 



Additional tasks to support the Office of the CEO and broader organization as necessary.

Work to ensure company resources are adequate and suitable so that activities and goals can be complete

Other duties and tasks from time to time that are broadly consistent with those in this document.

Required Skills & Expertise


A Management Generalist with 2-4 years experience providing support to upper-level management in a similar set up.

High proficiency in translating complex data with the ability to conduct research and present data in a succinct and well-written manner.

Strong project management and coordination experience in multi-stakeholder projects

Experienced in and capable of handling confidential or sensitive information.

Experience of administrative duties, coordination, and organizational support to senior management.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. Demonstrated experience of managing senior-level stakeholders.

Excellent working knowledge of GSuite and MS Office suite, including proven experience of maintaining complex spreadsheets and developing high-quality slide decks. 

Excellent communication skills, including experience of working effectively with diverse audiences and colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrable experience in writing clearly, concisely, and with attention to detail for multiple audiences.

Strong organization skills, ability to work independently and as a team player, and flexibility to take on tasks beyond the core area of expertise.

Works well under pressure, with the ability and confidence needed to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects



Experience of international development sector in the poverty alleviation space

Data-driven mindset with the desire to learn in a fast-paced environment in a growing organization

Experience coordinating strategic planning and internal stakeholder management.

Theory of Change training/experience

Experience of developing and overseeing balanced scorecards and organizational KPIs.

Required Education and Experience


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a social sciences or business management background and a keen interest in global socio-economic issues.

Personal Attributes

Excellent social and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent time management skills and an ability to think proactively, and who can work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.

Curious by nature and persistent in obtaining and validating new information.
