Your mission

·       Provide technical support to US/Canada Forests Team, including project and relationship managers, to advance sustainable forestry practices in Earthworm member company supply chains throughout North America

·       Understand current practices of mills and forests in Earthworm member company supply chains through research, analysis, and field visits to sites and facilities of relevance

·       Engage with forest managers and companies to support improvements of their practices to meet Earthworm members’ policy standards

·       Aid member and client implementation of responsible sourcing programs for forest products, including collection and analysis of supply chain data and evaluation of regional risks

·       Assist with facilitation, collaboration, and dialogue processes with clients and other stakeholders to co-create solutions to responsible sourcing challenges that are informed by on-the-ground realities of forest operations

·       Manage relationships with community and environmental stakeholders

·       Conduct field visits and provide internal and external training on sustainable forestry practices and concepts

·       Identify opportunities to improve member and client practices and recommend corrective action based on field visits, environmental regulations, and engagement with scientists, civil society groups, and other stakeholders

·       Collaborate closely with fellow forest managers and Earthworm team members across Earthworm globally

·       Work with global Earthworm team members to interpret and advise on the use of remote sensing and satellite monitoring results.

Your profile

·       Minimum 4-5 years experience working in or with forestry supply chains in North America required

·       Exposure to and grasp of forest management and operations in North America

·       Strong interest and motivation for Earthworm’s vision and mission

·       Passion for issues related to responsible sourcing, forest restoration and/or averting degradation, and community well-being

·       Understanding of forest management certifications and forest sustainability discourse, particularly in the US and/or Canada

·       Experience building partnerships, co-creating solutions, or communicating with clients to understand client needs and solve strategic problems

·       Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to motivate and influence

·       Well-organized, flexible, able to show initiative and a positive attitude

·       Eager to continually learn and develop as part of a team

·       Comfortable with change and constantly evolving work environment

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Ability to do basic mapping work (e.g., open and explore files, clip polygons, export maps) in ArcGIS

Working conditions / Physical effort:

·       Based in Canada or the United States and working remotely

·       Ability to travel by air for multiple days. This position includes travel within the United States and Canada, with possible additional international travel (estimated 4 weeks per year);

·       Scheduling flexibility required to accommodate calls and meetings across global time zones

·       Reports to US & Canada Country Head

·       Valid work authorization required

·       Full-time position

·       Open-ended contract

·       Immediate start
