Who We Are:
Ivey Business School acknowledges and respects the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples, where Western University and Ivey Business School are located. This land continues to be home to diverse Indigenous peoples, whom we recognize as contemporary stewards of the land and vital contributors of the community.
Ivey Business School (www.ivey.ca) at Western University (www.uwo.ca) is Canada’s leading provider of real-world, case-based business education. Drawing on extensive research and business experience, Ivey’s faculty provides the best classroom experience, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities they need to confidently take on today’s leadership challenges and opportunities through Case-Method Learning. Ivey offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as Executive Education at campuses in London, Toronto, and Hong Kong.
The Ivey Centre for Building Sustainable Value (the BSV Centre) was one of the first sustainability centres in a business school globally, and is recognized for its excellence and 20-year track record in research and teaching. Our Centre mission is to shape pathways of systems change towards an ecologically sound, fair future.
The BSV Centre’s unique capabilities in cross-disciplinary research are central to our efforts to drive system change. Systems problems that drive climate emissions, inequities and biodiversity loss cannot be solved via the same ‘siloed’ way of thinking that have created them in the first place. The BSV Centre brings together over 20 world-class researchers across disciplines spanning Strategy, Accounting & Finance, Economics, Operations & Supply Chains, and Marketing & Consumer Behavior to tackle these complex problems.
The BSV Centre supports this work of Ivey faculty through a systematic process to maximize the impact of research. Over the past 4 years, the BSV Centre has been developing and refining an “impact roadmap” as a key process for scaling up and accelerating the impact of research on practice. This roadmap is a sequence of activities to build capability, impact and engagement around research initiatives, through practitioner focused publications, events, partnerships and securing additional resources and funding. A key element of this process is to connect researchers and business leaders to apply research findings and co-create pioneering practices and transition pathways. This roadmap has been applied, for example, in our work on the circular economy and conservation finance, resulting in Ivey playing a leading role in driving these agendas in Canada.
