About the Role 

The Technology Infrastructure and Systems Specialist Lead is the pillar that keeps the organization moving forward.    

You maintain internal systems for the Centre for Social Innovation ensuring operations run effectively and smoothly. You identify and implement improvements for increased technology systems efficiency and the delivery of a top-notch member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, procurement, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure at all CSI Toronto locations, including printers, servers, PC/laptops, network components and related configurations, telecommunications equipment, telephony, mobility, email, operations related software, backup/recovery systems and license compliance with a focus on cyber security

  • Implement streamlined IT solutions for TechSoup Canada, coordinating with TechSoup Global and vendors to develop effective solutions.

  • Implement streamlined IT solutions for CSI, coordinating with vendors to develop effective solutions.

  • Identify, diagnose and implement improvements in the IT infrastructure, ensuring exceptional member and staff experience

  • Troubleshoot issues related to server, workstation, application, or network related problems, and liaise with vendors for resolution. 

  • Direct and support the Technology Infrastructure Coordinator in the deployment of  workstations, laptops, virtual machines, and mobile devices as required

  • Work with Technology Infrastructure Coordinator to create systems to support members and staff with IT needs and requests

  • Assist with updating and maintaining IT policies and documentation, including user guides, and asset inventory

  • Act as a trusted partner and collaborative colleague focused on influencing change and delivering solutions to make work easier through technology

  • Support Techsoup Canada by participating in negotiations with vendors and contractors for hardware/software

  • Support CSi and TechSoup Canada leadership on major projects, software upgrades, and organizational system deployment and changes

  • Support and participation of planning and strategic goals for systems and applications

  • Supports the Chief Digital Officer in the creation and execution of roadmaps outlining the investments in infrastructure (with a focus on cyber security) that will enable the Company’s strategic plans and deliver high availability IT resources

  • Directs, prioritizes, and expedites multiple work assignments in accordance with scheduled IT service commitments

  • Participates in hardware and software upgrades where necessary for optimal performance in alignment with Vulnerability and Patch Management best practices

  • Remains current with relevant advancements in technology with a focus on cyber security

  • Remains current with relevant technology advancements, cyber security toolsets and recommends new technologies and best practice solutions (cloud, remote managed services, digital transformation)

  • Assist in the development of the operating and capital budget and ensure the department operates within the approved budget

  • Provide technical support to internal customers to ensure each is able to work at optimal capacity free of any IT-related limitations

  • Effective and efficient triaging and solving all IT issues based on importance, topic, and urgency

  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions

  • Ensure security and business continuity through access controls, backups, firewalls and hardware tracking

  • Proactively communicating application issues to leaders and the team as needed

  • Regularly monitor network and infrastructure performance, security, and system status and report any potential problems
