Toronto is a city of neighbourhoods. The vibrant merchants, restaurants and cafes are defining factors of our City. However, main streets in Toronto have been coping with a number of dynamic macro and micro economic shifts and changes - from the way people shop to the rise of mobile engagement, many businesses who have been the heart and mainstay of our communities are being left behind. There has been much discourse and research showing shocking statistics of the lack of digital adoption and basic web presence by small businesses in Canada. Digital Main Street is a capacity building program that was built with the view of keeping our main streets vibrant, supporting the growth and competitiveness of our small business community and creating meaningful job opportunities for students and recent graduates. Digital Main Street is a program developed in partnership by the City of Toronto and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA). Digital Main Street supports the growth of main street businesses by making the adoption of digital tools and technologies easy.
