We're Donor Engine, a privately held non-profit software company. We entered the space after spending a decade and a half as a digital agency, and repeatedly seeing our clients treated very badly by the vendors in the space. Many of the existing vendors are either VC funded or publicly traded companies. This creates conflict from the start, as for a company with private (or public) investment, profit is the most important thing. This is not necessarily a bad thing when serving for-profit companies, but we believe that serving the non-profit sector comes with responsibility. Certainly, profit is important, but so is doing the job right, delivering on your promises and dealing fairly with your clients. There are many hurdles that get in the way of a non-profit using technology effectively, it's a large complex problem that isn't easy to fix, but we are making technology more inter-connected and efficient one charity at a time.
