Researching Indigenous Organizations
Indigenous Peoples in Canada, including Inuit and Metis, face an array of serious challenges and systemic oppression. At the same time, Indigenous Peoples are the holders of traditional knowledges that not only benefit them but can contribute to the well-being of other communities and the protection of the environment. By researching different Indigenous organizations, and other institutions with whom they interact, I will have a better understanding of the solutions, approaches and perspectives these groups are using to address their problems, as well as the existing gaps. By getting to know different organizations, different challenges, and getting familiar with their proposals, I aim to become a better ally and become a participant in the short future.
