Through intensive fellowship programs, workshops, and classes, the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Ontario helps everyday people achieve the extraordinary. Our social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs unlearn the beliefs that limit solutions to complex social, environmental, and economic challenges. As a community, they are building social purpose businesses, non-profit organizations, cooperatives, and social initiatives for the benefit of their communities. SSE was founded in London, UK in 1997 and consists of an international network of schools. In 2012 SSE was established in Canada. Today it is a project on Tides Canada’s shared platform, which provides governance, human resources, financial, and grant management for leading environmental and social projects across Canada, allowing projects to more effectively achieve their missions. Tides Canada has full fiduciary and governance responsibility for the School for Social Entrepreneurs in Canada. SSE Ontario has consistently blazed new trails in Canadian social entrepreneurial education, intergenerational cooperation, solidarity among community leaders from different socio-economic backgrounds, and collaboration between social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in large government agencies, corporations, and civil society institutions.
