Kids being back at school means that families are on the lookout for after school and PA day programs. Check out this list of six wonderful programs being offered by CSI members, from creative movement to computer coding to photography (and more)!

  1. CHARLIE’S FREEWHEELS BUILD-A-BIKE PROGRAMS
Charlie’s Free Wheels aims to inspire a spirit of exploration and to mobilize, empower and engage youth using bicycles as a driver for personal growth and positive social change. They offer a variety of mechanical programs in their workshop space throughout the year. There is a Build-A-Bike Program, Drop-In Hours, Earn-A-Bike Program, a Bike Repair Program, Pre-Employment Training Program, and other workshops.
  2. STEAMLABS AFTER SCHOOL AND PA DAY PROGRAM
Steamlabs offers after school and weekend programs that teach the basics of coding, building & making in a fun environment. Choose from themes like video game programming, Minecraft, Inventioneering (kids can turn sketched ideas into working prototypes), and more! There is also an all-new round up of STEAM-powered activities to engage kids in even more making and celebrating while school’s out for a PA day. Check out the classes offered and sign up early to secure a spot! They have a different activity running every PA day and a special deal for those who sign up in advance for more than one.
  3. BLACK LANE STUDIOS AFTER SCHOOL AND PA DAY PROGRAMS
Black Lane Studio is offering an after school program called Kids & Cameras, where kids 10-14 will develop their creative and technical photography skills, under the guidance of photography educator Diana Nazareth. Diana has also created themes for each of this year’s PA Days. The kids will learn about operating the camera and composing shots. They’ll go outside on Diana’s popular photo scavenger hunts, capturing shots illustrating concepts such as vantage points, elements of design, scale, perspective and macro photography. The programs run from 10 am to 3 pm.
  4. CODEZILLA: CODING FOR KIDS
Would your child’s school or daycare benefit from a super-fun STEM and coding program? Codezilla has a few spots left for Fall term (K-Gr 8) and they really want to fill them! They are offering special introductory rates for any new bookings between Oct-Dec’18! (min. 8-week program). 600+ kids across the GTA – from the Annex to Danforth to Parkdale – have enjoyed their teacher-endorsed programs. Check out their in-class, lunchtime and after school workshops. It’s totally turn-key: they do registration, collect funds, and travel to your school.
  5. IMAGINE IF THEATRE AND CREATIVE PLAY CLASSES FOR KIDS
At Imagine IF, young people will participate in art, creative movement, improvisation, character play and storytelling, in addition to mindfulness meditation and movement activities. Through a variety of different classes, kids will learn about themselves, each other and the world around them. Through collaborative creative play, kids will have fun while building communication skills, self-esteem, and greater social awareness.
  6. MATH CONNECTIONS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Math Connections is an after-school math program for the enrichment of any student in grades 4-9. The program explores the connections between math and a wide array of other subjects in the arts, humanities, and sciences, and aims to develop in students a creative approach to mathematical problem-solving. Registration for Math Connections is ongoing, the unique nature of the content is such that students can register at any time without requiring much catch-up.
