Tolga Ay
Facilities Manager
Tolga is a business professional, problem-solver, and, on occasion, a reluctant handyman who somehow made fixing things a career. After earning a degree in business and a master’s in international business—because one degree just wasn’t enough pressure—he dove headfirst into the chocolate industry, developing key account sales. This led to a whirlwind career in marketing across Turkey, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Hungary, where Tolga worked with both chocolate and cosmetics brands. (One makes people happy, the other makes them look happy—so, basically, the same job.) A highlight of this period was collaborating with renowned designer Karim Rashid on the first-ever design chocolate brand, proving that even chocolate can have an existential crisis about its appearance.
Then came Canada, a land of opportunity, maple syrup, and existential weather patterns. In 2015, Tolga decided that if people were going to eat, they might as well eat well, founding an Event Center and Catering company. It was a glorious run—until COVID arrived, ruining both business models and social skills everywhere. During the pandemic,Tolga had a revelation: building and fixing things wasn’t just necessary—it was meditative. And, since meditation isn’t exactly a bill-paying profession, a new career path emerged.
Now, as part of the facilities team at CSI, Tolga gets to combine a love for working with his hands, puzzle-solving, and out-of-the-box thinking. Whether it’s marketing a product, defining a problem, or fixing a bug (both literal and metaphorical),Tolga enjoys finding unique, effective, and—to everyone’s relief—accurate solutions. If there’s an elegant, efficient way to get from A to B, Tolga will find it. If not, well… there’s always plan C. Or duct tape.
